Brief Benefits of Storytelling: Generativity

The definition of generativity is a concern for others developed during adulthood, exhibited by one’s commitment to helping grow younger people and contribute to the next generation. Being generative is being a caring and productive member of society. Studies show that there is a connection between one’s generativity and their view of their own story. When you look at your story as redemptive, where your adversities or suffering eventually lead to positive outcomes, you are more likely to be generative. With this in mind, it is important to remember to always write your story no matter where you are in your life journey, because the way that you shape your own story for yourself can affect not just you but future generations!
