We refer to Baby Elephant Syndrome regularly in the workshops that we facilitate.
According to Segen’s Medical Dictionary, this is a “hopeless helplessness learned in childhood, which becomes hard-wired in a person’s psyche as he or she develops and matures.”
Many of us have internalized negative or hurtful messages about ourselves that we heard in childhood. Unfortunately, we let someone else write our story for us. The good news is that at any time, we can take back the pen and write our own story. We can overcome baby elephant syndrome through understanding our own stories.
Check out our most recent podcast where we talk about what baby elephant syndrome is and how you can overcome it.
